the hungry yeti - vegetarian and vegan recipes from the pacific northwest

About

Oh hey there, I’m Charlie! How are you today?

I’m good, thanks for asking.

Hopefully you ended up here because you wanted to check out some vegetarian and vegan recipes and not because you wanted to know more about yetis. If you are indeed here in search of the elusive abominable snowman then I apologize for wasting your time. I’m sorry. Please don’t hate me.

But let’s assume you’re here for food and, well, why wouldn’t you be? We all love food.

Here you will find vegetarian and vegan food because that happens to be the food I cook and the food I love most. While I would also love to say these recipes are super healthy and will help you cut the pounds I’m afraid that isn’t always the case. But I will do my best to at least give you a mixture of yummy and healthy options along with decadent and rich favorites.

So who am I? What qualifications do I have?

Well, uh, none really. I kinda taught myself to cook at eighteen when I was heading off to university. All I was armed with were about half a dozen hand-me-down recipes from my mum who is, by the way, dynamite when it comes to traditional English food and desserts. In desperate need of some variety I started to cook and my passion kind of exploded from there.

That’s all well and good, but why no meat? Where’s the bacon?

So a few years ago I decided to eat veggie for a month out of boredom of the old meat-and-two-veg meals I was eating day in and day out. To my surprise I found I was experimenting with new ingredients, making varied meals, feeling physically amazing and shedding fat. From there the whole herbivore thing stuck.

Today I live in beautiful Vancouver in the Pacific Northwest where I find myself inspired every day by the amazing restaurants, cafes and food trucks that the city has to offer. In essence this blog is my own personal cookbook to keep track of all of the things I love to cook. If any of the recipes happen to inspire you – or if you even happen to make something – then I’ll consider it a success.

Until next time folks!
